Their joyful laughing, banter, congratulating their fellow performers on how well they had done, filled the close and showed just how much they had enjoyed it themselves – in the same way that we, the audience, had done. And if that is not what local, amateur, youth drama and music is not all about – well, I don’t know what is.

In our opinion Lichfield Musical Youth Theatre’s production of Rent was the best performance from a non-professional company we have seen so far this year. We wish them every success for the future and we can’t wait for the next show!

This is theatre at its very best – honest, clear, every sinew on that stage aspiring to the stars. The second half department store scene alone is worth the price of admission in a show that’s a series of wonderfully realised set pieces in which no one is performing at less than the top of their game – they make all the sheer brilliance and hard work, obviously from the heart, look effortless.
